I was thinking the other day about formations and how much of a pain it is to pull my cards out just to make up a formation. So, I thought it would be cool to create a formation card with all the stats that I need. Click on the image below and let me know what you think.  Very Happy

That's pretty cool looking!  I have certain formations that I like to use a lot so for my favorites I just put all of the cards together in one of those card collecter binder sheet things seperate from the rest of my cards so that I don't have to look for the cards when i'm setting up a game.

Thats a great idea.  Would like to use them when I get enough pieces to use formation.

I really like that alot! I would suggest changing the #1 Cossak Captain to something like 1 x Cossack Captain, it took me a second to figure out the quantity of each unit. And if you could put the attack stats in a grid that would really finish it off! I hope you dont mind I saved the image so I can fiddle with it. Great idea, and great card!

Okay... I had to up the size of the card from a 4x6 to 5X8. I was looking at some of the bigger formations with 6+ units, and was just running out of real estate for them. Let me know if I've missed any stat that needs to be on here. Thanks for the feedback. Smile

Very nice! The stat grid is perfect. Have you tried to make one with more than 3 unit types? Do you just shrink the text to fit more? The propaganda poster was a real nice touch too!

Can you do them all and we'll sticky them for everybody?
Would be a useful tool for all gamers of AAM

Okay, I did the Soviet Defenders formation. Phew! It's a bit cramped, but I think I've made it work. I'm going to convert these over to InDesign and try to bang them out that way. Then I can export it as one PDF file - Photoshop is really not a layout program, I don't like some of the wonky typography tools in Photoshop.

Keep the feedback coming!

I too like these cards.  They really look good and will one day be within my ability to use as I collect more pieces.

On a related note, can't we determine the final size of the cards when we print them?  I am waiting on Sharpe's CD with all those custom cards.  I already know I am going to have to figure out how to put the nine cards on one sheet so I can print them up myself, but I will cross that bridge when I get there.

Okay, a little update on my formation cards. It's been a slow process! But I have all of the Soviets and the US formations done. Phew! I plan on to push on through with the Germany or Japan tonight. -Just kidding- I'll post some of what I've done so far. Enjoy!

Nice job 88! I would LOVE it if you would do some German formations, That way I could prove to my friend 3Kars, a Hapsturmfeuer and a MG42 is only 20 points!

Yeah, my whole plan is to do all the formations. Next up is Germany and Japan. After that it's the minor nations. I'll going to look into getting them printed on nice card stock with aqueous coating! Could be too costly though.

Do you think I need to add the sub-type on the cards? i.e. add in the information "Solider-Artillery" or "Vehicle-Tank Destroyer" under the names of the units? I think people who are coco for this stuff have it all committed to memory.

I dout you need things like "Vehicle-Tank" or "Vehicle-Assault Gun" but having things that affect what they can do, like Artillery cannot board normal transports, ect. would be needed.

By the way, do you consider the British a minor natoin? I didn't see any of their cards, and you didn't say you where going to do them. Just wanted to know!
